Drew Angerer, Getty ImagesRadioShack, once a neighborhood mainstay for all things electronic, is planning to make a comeback of sorts.The 97-year-old retailer announced plans Thursday to open more than 100 'express' locations nationwide.After filing bankruptcy in 2017 for the second time in less than three years, RadioShack announced a partnership last week to stock its merchandise in 60 franchised HobbyTown stores. The company said it has recently refocused its efforts on both its e-commerce platform and growing number of 400 dealer locations.The HobbyTown partnership will give RadioShack greater access to suburban areas.“This will expand the RadioShack footprint quickly and enhance the product selection and services offered at HobbyTown locations,” according to HobbyTown President Bob Wilke.Follow Dalvin Brown on Twitter @DalvinBrown.
DENVER –A once-ubiquitous mall tenant has now all but disappeared completely from the retail landscape. RadioShack shuttered more than 1,000 locations after filing for bankruptcy for a second time in March.But the struggling electronics retailers is not dead yet. The retailer decided to keep 70 company-owned locations open.
